If you love the feel of an enchanting old harbor, Honfleur is for you. Because it sits on the estuary of the Seine River, Honfleur is a bustling port surrounded by hundreds of year old buildings, restaurants, and shops. The Vieux Bassin is at the heart of it all.
Just like love and food, sailing/boating is a universal language. I was enamored with all the sailboats and found myself imagining being able to one day dock Lutris at this port.
Honfleur was an intentional layover for us during a road trip from Mont St. Michelle back to Paris.
Having done very little research the few days before our road trip I booked a couple rooms at this sweet cottage-like hotel. The service was friendly and the ambience delightful. I felt like we were truly in the countryside.
With only 24 hours in Honfleur we spent most of our time exploring around Vieux Bassin.
If you ever find yourself anywhere in France, I would highly recommend renting a car and making your way through Normandy with a pit stop in Honfleur. You won’t regret it.
